0. Introduction.
Welcome, one and many, to the February 2006 DreamHost Newsletter! No,
you are not mistaken, it IS coming to you in March. If this seems
strange to you, I'd like to welcome you aboard, new customer.. this MUST
be your first newsletter!
But actually, this month especially, the fact that the newsletter is a
itty bitty bit late is PERFECT, because this newsletter is all about
MISTAKES. And even more PERFECT, it's even being written by one! At
least that's what my mother calls me. And my wife. My dog too. People I
meet on the bus..
########################################################################
1. Restore Your Own DB!
But hey, we all make mistakes! Actually, everybody besides me makes
mistakes. Oh my, that first sentence was the first mistake I've ever
made. It will be the last.
Anyway, for everybody else, we now have a little feature to help you be
a little more "Josh-like". The ability to automatically restore your
MySQL databases from backups, right from our panel!
https://panel.dreamhost.com/?tree=goodies.mysql
Just click the little "restore" button you now see there. You'll be
given a list of backups you can restore, choose to just restore a
certain table or the whole thing, and decide how you want the restored
tables renamed.
OR, if you prefer the mistake route, you can always click the "delete"
button instead.
########################################################################
2. Costs of Certs Going Down!
We're lowering the prices associated with having your own secure cert!
Unique IPs are now $3.95/month with no set up fee ever (down from $4.95
a month with a $15 set up fee if you paid monthly), and there's no
longer any fee for generating a CSR for a secure cert (it used to be $10
for people not on the Strictly Business plan)!
This is a carefully calculated change, focused on making a good thing
better. In no way should it be considered the admission of a mistake by
me in regards to the original pricing of said services. That would of
course be impossible. Since I never make mistakes. (Barring the time I
said "Everybody makes mistakes.")
########################################################################
3. Bye Bye Web IDs!
This never happened to ME, but sometimes SOME of our Otherwise-Happy
DreamHost Customers would get a little bamboozled by having both a "Web
ID" for logging into our web panel and an ftp username for logging into
their actual server and uploading their web site.
THE FOOLS!
Nonetheless, and again without admitting any wrong-doing on MY part, we
are now allowing you to log in to our web panel with your contact email
address! Your Web ID still works too of course, and always will (unless
we change that later), but hey, maybe it'll be a little bit easier on
people not so perfect as the me.

########################################################################
4. Bye Bye .la!
"As the me." Heh, what the heck was that? "As me." That's better. Weird.
Anyway, another complete non-mistake on our part was becoming the
official registrar of .la. As it's currently taking in about one
registration a day and our hosting side of things are growing like three
gajillion times that, we've decided to amicably part ways, effective
April 1st.
It would be a mistake to assume this is an April Fools joke, because at
least as far as I know, it's not? I *think* come April 1st if you have a
.la domain registered with us, you will have a new account at a
different registrar who will take over the service from us. You will
receive an email with more details closer to the date, don't worry! And
you won't have to do anything, and your websites and email will continue
to work uninterruptedlyably. Unless of course, something goes wrong in
the transition. But that will never happen on MY CLOCK.

5. New Charities!

Certified Open Source Software certification mark and program.") and

DONATE AND BE MATCHED! Make not mistkake!

6. DHSOTM
Whoa boy, things were getting bad there, but it's all back to normal now
it looks like. Moving right along, it'd be very wrong to give the
DreamHost Site of the Month award to anything but a flash-based
portfolio site:
http://www.louispang.com/
Is your site mistake free? Maybe your peers agree and YOU TOO can be
featured on this hallowed pages of this immaculate newsletter:
https://panel.dreamhost.com/?tree=home.dhsotm
Well, it looks like I made it through the rest of the newsletter without
making a mistake. I can now relax and look forward to living out the
rest of my days in splendid perfection...

Johs Jones!
