Eudora
From DreamHost
Eudora is an e-mail client program which runs on Mac OS and Windows computers. This article explains how to configure it to work with DreamHost's email servers, and gives some pointers to other information on Eudora.

Introduction
Eudora is a flexible e-mail program with extremely fast searching capabilities and good reliability, coupled with built in security features that make it an excellent alternative to Outlook and Outlook Express. E-mail is saved in text files, so corruption is easily dealt with if needed, while files are saved in a separate directory, aiding virus protection and making them instantly searchable via normal means.
Configuration
In Eudora for either Macintosh or Windows, it is fairly easy to set up a new "personality" (e-mail account) for DreamHost. However, it is important to note that it may take up to a full day for the first new mail account to show up as a domain - that is, mail.yourdomain.com - so it probably won't work right away.
The Mac and Windows versions, though they can actually use each others' files (once you take care of line-feed differences), and are generally very similar, handle the addition of new personalities very differently, so we'll deal with them one at a time.
Mac version configuration
First, go to the Window menu and select Personalities (Mac Eudora version 6). That will bring up a list of the e-mail accounts you already have set up, if you have any.
Now click on the New button at the bottom of the Personalities pane. That will just add a new un-named personality; as soon as it appears, type in a name for it (that's just for your easy reference). Then click on the Edit button. From there you can rename the personality, but probably you won't need to do that yet! Under that, there are two sub-panes: Checking Mail and Sending Mail.
For Checking Mail, put in your mailbox (either the ftp user associated with the account, or the m1234567 mailbox number). The mail server is mail.yourdomain.com. (Or mail.yourdomain.org, etc., depending on what kind of domain you have.) Remember, it may not be active yet! Then fill in the next two buttons - check mail every ___ minutes and check mail on manual checks. Personally, I like to be in control of everything, so I have check mail every ___ minutes UNchecked. If it's checked, Eudora will be checking your mail at regular intervals. Set it to 1 minute, and you get fresh mail but really put a load on the server and your network, and you may use up the number of mail checks per hour you have. Check mail on manual checks and when you press command-M, or select Check Mail from the File menu, (etc.), it will check this account for mail. Leave both unchecked, and you only get mail from this mailbox when you specifically ask for it (from the Check Mail button on the Personalities pane). That's useful for special purpose mailboxes and spamtraps.
Now, sending mail - put the real name you want people to see next to your e-mail address where it says Real Name.
You can put mail.yourdomain.com/org/etc in SMTP server just like you did for Mail Server, especially if you shuttle between Internet access services (e.g. on a laptop). However, it's better to put in your ISP's SMTP server (contact them if you need help) - for example, mine is set to verizon.net, so outgoing mail is sent via Verizon. That's not a problem because - well, see the next paragraph.
The e-mail address it asks for is the one you want people to see. This can be just about any legitimate e-mail address you own - it's not necessarily the one associated with the account. Be warned that abuse of this will come back to you!
The next three buttons are send mail whenever sends are done, which is almost always checked; use submission port (587), which you would use if you have one of those boneheaded ISPs that blocks access to the usual e-mail port (I don't know if Dreamhost supports this), and which should be unchecked unless you can't send mail; and Allow Authorization should be checked, it provides a level of password security.
That's it - press OK and you're done! (Though you might want to set up a filter within Eudora to mark mail coming from this mailbox to a particular color, or to send it to a separate mailbox, or something like that.)
Windows version configuration
Go to the Tools menu and select Personalities (Windows version 6). That will bring up a list of the e-mail accounts you already have set up, if you have any. Right-click in the blank part of the new window pane, and you should see an item marked New. Select that, and you have a choice between a wizard and Skip Directly to Advanced Settings.
If you choose Skip to Advanced Settings, you'll be in a pane similar to the Mac one, except it's divided into two tabs, for no apparent reason. See the Mac area for instructions.
If you go through the wizard, it'll just ask you for each item one at a time. Again, see the Mac area for directions.
