What We Support
From DreamHost
On this page we will list which programs / scripts work or don't work on our system. If you have a question about a program that you want to install/run on your account and don't see it on this list just contact our support team and ask them to add the answer to this page.
(Please use your browser's Find "Ctrl + f" option to search for the program / script you are using.)
As a general note, though, as long as your script / program does not run as a persistent process you should be able to run it.

| PHP | Yes! PHP 5 is installed on all of our servers -- here's the configuration. PHP 4 is no longer available, but some older sites may still be set to use it. |
| allow_url_fopen | Yes (see allow_url_fopen). |
| Zend Optimizer | Yes - this is installed on our shared hosting servers as of January 2007. |
| IonCube | Not installed by default (as it conflicts with some PHP software), but can be set up manually. |
| MySQL | Yes! All current database servers are running MySQL 5.1. Some older databases are on MySQL 4, but can be upgraded from the panel. |
| sqlite3 | Yes! Installed on our servers. |
| Python | Yes! Installed on our servers. |
| Ruby | Yes! Installed on our servers. |
| Lighttpd | Installed on DreamHost PS servers, not available on shared servers. |
| ColdFusion | Not available. |
| ASP | Not available - this is a Windows-only technology! |
| Frontpage Extensions | No - support for this was dropped on August 08, 2008. However, FrontPage can still be used via FTP. |
| Google Apps | Yes, you can integrate your DreamHost account with this service. |
| Java JRE | Yes, this is already installed on our servers -- shared and PS. |
| Tomcat | Not available. |
| mod_rewrite | Yes! Who wouldn't want it?! |
| mod_proxy | Yes, but only on PS and Dedicated servers. |
| JSON | Installed and available in PHP. |
| cURL | Yes, this is enabled on all servers. More info... |
| xmlrpc | Yes, We have a pear module named xmlrpc installed, and php5 has it. |
| SOAP | Yes, available since Jan, 2011, it's supported in the newly available PHP 5.3 option which can be selected in manage your account. |
| PHP Zip | Yes, available since Jan, 2011, it's supported in the newly available PHP 5.3 option which can be selected in manage your account. |
