0. Introduction
This is a monumental newsletter. I say that not only because it is
coming out well before the end of the month, but because it may very
well be the LAST NEWSLETTER YOU EVER RECEIVE FROM US.
It's sad but true.. due to market conditions and other factors beyond
our control, we have decided that starting this month we'd give our
loyal customers the ability to opt out of receiving future newsletters.
Over the years, nearly three people have written in asking to be
unsusbscribed from our newsletter. They told us, "Getting your @$#%!@@!
email newsletter every month makes us feel like this guy:

Heaven forbid anybody would feel like THAT guy! So read on to discover
how you can change your newsletter preferences.. your entire family
will thank you! In fact, we have here a picture of one family
immediately after unsubscribing from our newsletter:

1. Multiple contact emails!
Since you're no longer REQUIRED to receive this newsletter, we're going
to have to start trying really hard to keep you interested! We've got
lots and lots and lots of new stuff this time around, and next month
there may be even more. So I wouldn't unsubscribe if I were you. You
might miss lots and lots and lots of stuff.
That said, here's how you unsubscribe (don't):
We've totally revamped the contact area of ID.newdream.net (go there
and click on the Contact Info link)! Now besides the standard old
primary contact info for you to edit there's also an "Email Contact
Preferences" area! It's really cool!
You may not know it, but all our email correspondance to you is
categorized. There's billing emails (things like "We just charged your
credit card $0.42"), domain registration emails (things like "Your
domain expired three weeks ago.. would you like us to renew it?"),
account emails (things like "Your account hasn't been approved!"),
announcement emails (more about that in the next section!) and of
course, monthly newsletters (see this email).
So through the Email Contact Preferences you can now select what email
addresses you'd like to receive which sort of emails! You can have
as many different addresses as you'd like, and you can have emails
go to multiple email addresses, or just one, or none (but that's only
if the notification is optional). Right now, the newsletter is the
only optional notification!
So if you REALLY want to stop receiving this email, just go to
https://id.newdream.net/?tab=contact and uncheck the box(es) next to
"Newsletters"!
HEY! One more thing!
You should also add to that page all the email addresses you might send
tech support messages to us from. That way our system will be able to
match up your incoming email to your NDN ID automatically, which is
just super for everybody!

2. Get Announcements via Email!
Let's just say you DO decide to unsubscribe (don't), but you still
don't want to be completely out of touch with us, email-wise. In that
case, you may be interested in reading this section.
YOU CAN NOW GET WEB PANEL ANNOUNCEMENTS SENT TO YOU VIA EMAIL!
There was an announcement about this a week or so ago, but since even
less people read the announcements than want to unsubscribe from the
newsletter, we thought it'd be good to regurgitate it here!
It's easy.. just go to the announcements area of our web panel at:
https://panel.dreamhost.com/?tab=status&subtab=announce
and set which sort of announcements you'd like to also get via email.
Then you can go to https://id.newdream.net/?tab=contact (remember?) to
set which email(s) you'd like those announcements sent to!
That way you'll always be in touch with what's going on without having
to log in every 15 minutes to find out if we've got a new feature or
system outage or funny joke posted!

3. Quicktime Streaming ONE DAY SALE TODAY (August 13th, 2001)!
Now HERE'S a good reason to keep getting the newsletter.. you might
otherwise have never known (assuming you don't get announcements
emailed to you either) that today, and TODAY ONLY we're having a sale
on our newest add-on service, Apple's Darwin Quicktime Streaming!
The sale goes from 11am PST today (now!) until 11am PST tomorrow
(August 14th, 2001)!
We announced the new quick time service a little while ago, but we
consider this the OFFICIAL LAUNCH! It's all ready to go and integrated
with our system at the Domains -> Streaming tab of our web panel:

The price to add on a quicktime streaming server to any account is a
flat fee of $10/month. Of course any bandwidth costs will be added to
your account total as usual. However, TODAY and TODAY ONLY (I know, we

price is only $2.50 a month! Yup, if you sign up today, the service is
only $2.50/month for as LONG as you keep it!
"RIDICULOUS!!!" you say? Indeed! It'd be RIDICULOUS not to get one
right now! Even if you don't think you're going to need it for a YEAR,
those 12 months would only cost you $30. You'd break even after just
four months of using it (since the regular price is $10 a month)!

4. Beta Test NDN Keywords!
And here's ANOTHER special offer for our loyal newsletter subscribees!
We want you to be the first on your block to try what is most likely
maybe possibly unlikely going to be the next big search engine on the

NDN Keywords (the "NDN" is for New Dream Network... doi!) is the little
guy's answer to AOL Keywords (the "AOL" is for America's Only-ISP
Left...) for your own site!
It works like a little search engine for your site, but instead of just
searching through the text of your site, YOU hand-pick what "keywords"
will take people to what pages! Keywords can be up to 32 characters
long and include spaces, punctuation, etc...
It's a free service, and it is being released RIGHT NOW to the public
for beta testing! Beta testing means that there are probably some bugs,
but overall it should work pretty well, and any work you put into
setting up your sites with it will not be wasted!

probably won't even have to log in because NDN Keywords just uses your
NDN ID that everybody's already got from DreamHost! How CONVEEENIENT!

using it on some of your sites. We think it's kind of a neat little
service and if it's good enough for AOL, it's good enough for us!
