0. Introduction.
Hiya, it's the September Newsletter, DreamHost-iest-style! Not only is
it coming to you a week into October, it's also coming to you from
35,000 feet over Nebraska... site of our new FLOATING DATA CENTER!
While everybody else TALKS about "cloud computing", we at DreamHost take
it to its most extremely INSANE limit!
We figured, hey, building a data center is already pretty darn difficult,
why not just go ahead and make it a few orders of magnitude moreso? But
at the same time get all the myriad benefits that only a data center
actually physically IN the clouds can provide:
* 100% earthquake resistance.
* 100% fire resistance.
* 100% Somali pirate resistance.
* 100% solar power reliability (we just float along with the sun).
* 100% wireless networking provided by aircell.com.
* -40 degrees (F and C) outside => just open a window for cooling.
Don't get me wrong, there's a TON of incredibly difficult logistics that
go into making a floating data center, not the least of which was hunting
and trapping all the Pegasuses we mount our racks to. Pegasai?
They don't call us DREAMHost for nothing.

We wanted to get this new floating data center up and running in time
for the company's 62nd birthday a couple of weeks ago, and um we did!
We also wanted to celebrate the opening of our floating data center with
a chance to get FREE lifetime hosting.. just by doing something you all
already do anyway: design t-shirts!

You see, there was a flood back in our old terrestrial data center and
the DreamHost archives were damaged; decades upon decades of classic
old DreamHost swag t-shirt... destroyed.
To try and make up for this in some way, we're having a contest for you,

2. New! WordPress / One-Clicks Auto-Upgrader!
The best thing about cloud computing is how you don't have to worry
about anything! Every day is the same old sun, every night is the
same old moon. Except for when it's a new moon or something like that.
I guess I'm saying that the idea is, once you've switched to cloud
computing for your software, you don't really need to worry about
"maintaining" it... the "cloud" just does it for you! And by "cloud" I
mean "the fairies in DreamHost's new floating cloud data center".
Well, the fairies have gotten around to finally making our one-click
software truly one-click with the addition of an "automatic upgrades"
option!

When you set your software to that option, you're done! Instead of just
getting notified when a new version of WordPress or PhpBB or Trac or
whatever is out, we'll ALSO upgrade it for you!
This is only for the "advanced" one-clicks... our "easy" one-clicks
already did this. They've always been so much more cloudy.

3. New! Full API Support for WordPress / One-Clicks!
You need to be pretty light for your jet pack to get you up to our new
floating data center, so when you come, you're probably only going to
have an iPhone or something with you.
And you probably aren't going to like using our panel with your iPhone,
because as much as they call it the "full web", well, iDunno, I'm just
trying to tie in the fact that we've added full API support for all
our one-click creation/modification/upgradetion/deletion methods now!

4. New! Our Web Panel Search is FAST!
Have you noticed that our web panel looks a little bit like an airplane
cockpit? It's been like that for a while, even from way back before we
had an airborne data center... and I guess it's because we've got a lot
of features!

Of course, a couple of months ago we added a new search option to the
top of our panel, to help you not only find whatever crazy niche feature
you're thinking of quickly, but to also enter any specific domain, user,
email, or database you'd like to work on!
It was pretty awesome. Pretty darn awesome. Except for one thing. It was

Well, now it's FST! So fast in fact, I dropped the A! Give it a try up
there! Just start typing a letter and BOOM, what are we, Amazon or
something? Google perhaps?
