Thanks for the tip. I did that once before actually and it helped a little but then the new server started being slow, too. So it seems to me Dreamhost is not commited to running these MySQL servers under loads that let them respond quickly (I'm talking pages save and load in one second quickly, not 2 to 8 seconds). I wish I were wrong because I love everything else about Dreamhost (except this bumply ride version of MediaWiki that should have been upgraded long ago). But sluggishly overloaded serves are just not what I want for my http://wikigogy.org MediaWiki. :-) --Rogerhc 20:42, 3 Feb 2007 (PST)

Your site's name sounded awfully familiar, and I quickly realized why: Your posting on the MediaWiki mailing list a month ago is what prompted me to ask for my own wiki's database to be moved to another server (which it was, with satisfactory results). That's irony for you.

Your wiki seems to be going fairly quickly for me: Load times seem to be around 0.3-2.0 seconds for pages, which isn't much slower than Wikipedia. As for this wiki, I've been bothering DreamHost employees about it for months, but ultimately, it's DreamHost's problem.
