From DreamHost
Jump to: navigation, search

As I indicated previously, I want to do an overall reorganization of the pages on the wiki, here. Right now, everything's sort of...all over the place. Everything should be categorized, and the categories shouldn't be haphazard.

So, I would propose that we have the following categories, as the structural framework of the wiki; they would mostly be relating to the wiki, not DreamHost itself (tiered bullet points indicate subcategories):

  • Policy
  • Help
  • Articles needing work (or Maintenance)
    • Stubs (we'll probably want subcategories of stubs, too)
    • Disambiguation (might not be needed)
  • Featured articles (if we want to do an FA thing)
  • Proposed deletions
    • Candidates for speedy deletion
    • Pages proposed for deletion
  • Image tags (for the image tag templates)

Most of this would be in either the DreamHost namespace, or the Help namespace. DreamHost might not be the best namespace for being the "project namespace," though; DHWiki, DHwiki, or Project might be less confusing. This is all pretty much how I've done it on that wiki I manage; take a look at the categories there if you want to see what this'd look like, roughly.

Then the meat:

  • DreamHost (about the company, not the wiki; see note on namespaces above; this could probably form a top-level category)
    • Newsletters
    • Press releases (though it's kind of silly to have them on the wiki, and the caps make my eyes bleed)
    • Frequently asked questions (or FAQs)
    • Hosting
      • Web design
      • dasdasd
    • sdsadsad
    • Domains

(at this point there's way too much stuff for me to easily blueprint everything out, at least not without really seeing what we've already got)

One thing about what we've currently got is that There Are A Lot Of Needless Capital Letters In Titles. I'd like to implement "standard" English conventions regarding titles and names, for the most part.

Our images don't currently have image tags; we should probably make some. We don't even have the copyright page created yet! (Ditto for the disclaimer, etc.)

Okay, that's all for now. Discuss on the talk page.
