Transfers

DreamHost provides two types of Domain-related services, Domain Hosting and Domain Registration.

These two services, although closely related, are actually separate things. You can use DreamHost to host a website but not register the associated domain, or register a domain but not host its associated website, or to both register a domain and host the corresponding website!

If you have an existing domain name, you'll need to transfer either the hosting or the registration over to us, depending on what you'd like from us. Please read the corresponding section below for more information on each process!

Who can blame you?

The best way to do this is to first transfer the hosting to DreamHost, and then, when that is completely successful, transfer the registration.
