I installed WordPress 1.22 a few months ago. Now that 1.5 is out - how do I upgrade? Will the One click install upgrade or wipe out my current installation?

moving a wordpress blog from another host
I saved the database from the old blog and have a new blog set up on dreamhost, but can't seem to import the database to dreamhost. Help? TedErnst 23:07, 7 Jul 2006 (PDT)
chmod
I'm trying to use PuTTY to change the file permissions of the files in the wp-content directory. The one-click-install doesn't set it up so that I can edit files from within wordpress. Every time I try and change the permissions to grant write access to group or public I get an error message.
Here's an example of what I'm trying to do:
chmod -R 666 themes/
and I get the following error:
chmod: changing permissions of `themes/': Operation not permitted

file structure?
I had a previously working install of wordpress on my website. I tried to update some stuff and tried using the easy 1-click install. However, I don't know where the files are for the new install to do further customization. -Fngkestrel 01:19, 7 February 2008 (PST)
- The easiest way I can think of (outside of just exploring) to determine the file structure of a WordPress install is to just download the raw .zip or tarball and extract it on your local computer - that will show you the directory structure. -- Rlparker 16:25, 7 February 2008 (PST)
Removing old bug workarounds
I believe the Blogger bug has been fixed in a recent version of WordPress, but I'm leaving in the workaround anyway, since I don't have a Blogger account and can't confirm.
I removed another workaround for an old bug - it required you to be using both an old version of WordPress, and Dreamhost to be using an old version of PHP. Not applicable anymore.
I don't even know where to begin with that IRC conversation - took me a while just to figure out what the person was trying to accomplish (to put a copy of WordPress in a directory, then a separate copy of WordPress in a subdirectory below that). I'm inclined to say that's so obscure that it doesn't deserve a section here. Flammable 13:17, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
