I set up forwarding a few times. Often the changes don't take place--the email address never forwards. I've waited a whole day before.

Or I'll also get this error: PERM_FAILURE: SMTP Error (state 9): 554 : Relay access denied.

The forwarding email addresses are certainly valid and correct.

Any ideas are welcome.

The Question was: "How do I send email FROM my hosted domain alias?"

Your Answer was: "To send email so that the return address says whatever@yourdomain.com you just need to configure your email client software. Most email programs allow you to set your return address to whatever you like. It's not something we control on our servers at all actually!"

Your Answer is incorrect because: "reply-to" is NOT the same thing as "from". I can make my.email@my.domain.com have a reply-to address of my.forwarding.account@my.dreamhost.domain.com, but the e-mail will still show up as from my.email@my.domain.com, not my.forwarding.account@my.dreamhost.domain.com.
