Adding Multiple Users

GMail/GTalk Server 2 Server compatible
Anyone seen this yet? I don't have and SSL cert, but I don't think it would make any difference. It seems like our Jabber server isn't 'federated'. Any chance Dreamhost is going to turn the S2S on?

XMPP Publish-Subscribe
I have a question: is it allowed to have some kind of script (ruby or php or something) that connects to your jabber server, so that it can pull from XMPP Publish/subscribe services (defined at wikipedia:Publish/subscribe and in XEP-0060)? --Toby 14:33, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- Have you looked at Ignite Realtime's site? I don't think it has quite what you are looking for, in terms of consuming the XMPP, but it does offer XMPP libraries, both client and server side, which may do what you want or at the very least make the results of your endeavors even better.--Crazytonyi 01:36, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Several Questions
- Can I set up multiple Jabber servers with my DreamHost account? Or at least two? Our account supports both the leasing office and the residents of a student community. It would be nice if we could have a jabber.office.example.com and a jabber.residents.example.com and make it optional for user's to sign on to both simultaneously or just the one, so that the office has an internal option as well as a line of communication to the residents.
- I saw that the server supports SSL, so I'll go one better. Does it support LDAP/Active Directory logins? So that we don't have to fuss with passwords at all? If so, does this option available in the Admin Panel, or do we need to go into a config file manually via terminal?
- Does this Jabber server support grouping users? Our student community is actually spread out over several houses, so we would want to see our own neighbors first, then residents from the other houses. (This ties back to my first question, if you can't tell).
- Can I just ditch the whole Jabber via Dreamhost thing altogether if none-of-the-above are options and install an OpenFire server instead?
It's really cool that DreamHost offers this service out-of-the-box, but am I looking for something too customizable?--Crazytonyi 01:36, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
