You would be a lot better just opening up the required ports, and forwarding the port to the IP of the LAN server. It's probably a good idea to give that machine a static ip too!

FYI, I'm on a LAN using iChat as a client and it works fine. I'm not sure if the problem just got fixed or if it was related to some other issue. I did have to turn of SSL howeverk which is disappointing. Why would we want to use jabber on our own domain if it’s not also more secure than using a thir-party chat service? --Rob 00:10, 23 March 2007 (PDT)
