.htaccess

The panel automatically adds www in front of my hosts for this option. Now I have it to remove the www in the hosting option. I tried putting in a .htaccess file anyway, and I can't find it anywhere on my site. Naturally it's not blocking anyone. Could the second issue be the result of the first?
