What isn't backed up

i'd like to see a section on what is not backed up, so that dreamhosters can cover themselves for these items. I recently lost all my email aliases for a domain and dh-support were unable to restore the old alias list. To this end, I recommend that dreamhosters keep a manual backup of this data for their domains.

What else, that is outside our own filesystem or databases, need we we backup ourselves, I wonder?

Backup and Automated domain snapshots

I've refactored the Backup topics a little bit. Article Backup is now a general portal to articles on backup tools and techniques. Dreamhost's automated domain snapshot service is now described in Automated domain snapshots; the old article name Backups now redirects to Backup. There is also a [[Category:Backup]]. I encourage you to tag any appropriate article with [[Category:Backup]] and add a reference to it in article Backup.
