FTP Problems with Blogger.com
If you are experiencing ftp problems, check the blogger side ftp log for any errors. Do this by trying to publish your blog and on the resulting page click the [Status] link on the far right of the page and then clicking on FTP Log. Even though Blogger says it was successful, the FTP log will tell you exactly what happened. If you e-mail support please inlude this "blogger side" ftp log.
Can I use Blogger with my DreamHost site?
Of course!
Since your Blogs are kept on your FTP space, as long as your account provides FTP space (that is, all plans except Domain Parking), we will support your blogs!
Blogger Settings
On the Blogger "Settings", "Publishing" use the following entry examples
- First, create a subdirectory under yourdomain.com called blogger (i.e. yourdomain.com/blogger)
- FTP Server: ftp.yourdomain.com
- Blog URL: http://yourdomain.com/blogger
- FTP Path: yourdomain.com/blogger
- Blog Filename: index.html
- FTP Username: make sure that you have the correct name and password: Blogger will not report this as an error and will show that you have published properly, even though the files will not appear in the directory
What's the difference between Blogger and DreamBook?
Glad you asked that!
Blogger and DreamBook are both easy-to-use guestbook-type services. Blogger is like a diary for sharing your personal thoughts and observations with the world; DreamBook is a guestbook for both you and your visitors to write in.
Both Blogger and Dreambook automatically generate the HTML code necessary to create your page. Both use handy forms to allow you (or others) to make instant updates. Both are free, and both contain a small amount of advertising.
The main differences are:
- Your Blogs reside on your FTP space; Your DreamBook resides on our servers.
- Anyone can post freely to your DreamBook; if you want people to post to your Blog, you must invite them.
- Your DreamBook can be advertising-free if DreamHost is hosting your domain.
