KB / Account Control Panel / Mail :: MX Record
From DreamHost
Changing the MX record allows you to use other web-based email services in conjunction with your DreamHost account, by fowarding email sent to your domain by another mail server.
Changing your MX record means that email for that domain will no longer be handled by DreamHost, but rather by whatever host you set it to.
Warning: Email aliases and autoresponders set up at our web panel will no longer work if you change your MX record from the default.

Will my autoresponders work if I change my MX record to Big Mail Box?
Unfortunately, no.
When you set up a web-based email account with BigMailBox, all your mail will be run through their servers instead of ours. That means that any aliases or auto-responders you have set up on our system will stop working completely, so bear that in mind before switching over.
