Why aren't the images on the web panel showing up? (Mozilla Firefox)
To help distribute the load across our servers, the DreamHost web panel loads its images from a separate web server. Some web browsers like Firefox interpret this as a sneaky advertising technique. In our case, that's not the case!
If you're not seeing images on your account control panel, or are experiencing other display problems, try this fix for Firefox.
Under the "Tools" menu select "Options."
Click "Web Features."
You'll need to add our web panel to your 'exceptions' list. To do this, click the 'Exceptions' button to the right of "Load Images."
Add secure.newdream.net to your ALLOW list.
That should do it!
Why aren't the images on the web panel showing up? (Internet Explorer)
If you can connect to the web panel, but the panel itself doesn't load any images, the problem lies in the security settings in your installation of IE.
We store the images for our web panel on a separate server to help distribute the load. Some installations of Internet Explorer have problems displaying sites which are composed of elements located on multiple secure servers.
To fix the error, open up IE's options screen, click the 'security' tab, and add https://secure.newdream.net/ to your list of trusted sites. Hit OK, then reload the panel.
Everything should be coming up roses!
Where is the Web Panel?
The Account Control panel is located at:
Why am I logged in as the wrong user?
The Account Control Panel uses cookies to store your login information, so that you don't have to log in the next time you visit.
If you logged in as a different user at some point, most likely your browser still has the cookie set to that identity, instead of yours.
Click on the words LOG OUT at the top of the page to delete that cookie, then log in again.
I can't log into the web panel at all.
If you're getting the same page again and again with no error message, that means your browser did not accept the cookie we sent it. Make sure you set your browser preferences to accept cookies. There is no harm in doing so; all we do is pass you your username, your encrypted password, and the fact that you are a DreamHost customer.
If you get a message saying your password was incorrect, try having it automatically mailed to you by following the directions there. If the email address we have in our database is no longer valid for you, you will have to contact support and request your password.
Certificate Expired error
This will most likely happen on earlier versions of Netscape and IE 3.x. You need to visit the site of whichever company made your browser and follow the directions on how to upgrade your browser's certificate.
