Google-site-verification
From DreamHost
If Google has requested that you enter a custom DNS entry for one of your domains in order for them to validate that you are the owner here are the customized instructions you'll need to follow to carry this out in our system:
- Log into our control panel and go to menu option (DOMAINS > MANAGE DOMAINS).
- Click on the "DNS" link for the domain in question.
- Under the "Add a custom DNS record to..." section; in the "Name:" field enter the text Google provided (on the LEFT side of the "=" sign). [Do NOT include the "="]. If this does not work, use the WHOLE text Google provided. The first way did not work for some.
- Select either "TXT" OR "CNAME" from the "Type" drop-down menu according to the type of DNS record they are asking you to add.
- In the "Value:" field enter the text Google provided (on the RIGHT side of the "=" sign). [Do NOT include the "="].
- Verify that you've entered the information correctly and that you have not accidentally included the "=" sign.
- Click on the "Add Record Now!" button to push the change into the system.
- It would take about 15-30 minutes for the DNS system to push this change live so please be patient before going back to Google to validate that you've made the update successfully.
- Have Google validate your domain.
- Google recommends that you NOT delete this custom DNS entry even after the domain has been validated.
