DreamHost Apps:Signing Up

Signing up is simple to do, just watch the "video walk through" at the bottom of this guide or follow these instructions.

1.) Head on over to DreamHost Apps and click on the "Signup" link at the top of the page.

(For the time being, the DreamHost Apps service will be invitation only and you will need to enter an invite code to continue signing up.)

2.) Select the type of domain you want to use, the deference in these three options are:

Dreamhosters.com Sub-Domain - Totally free but you will have a Dreamhosters.com in your domain name.
Use your own Domain - If you already have a name you can use it, Just point your nameservers to us.
Register a new Domain - For $9.95 a year you can buy either a .com, .net, or .org to use on your DreamHost Apps.

3.) You will need to enter the name you will want to use. The format of this entry will change depending on which domain type you select, (e.g. The Dreamhosters.com will show up if you select to use a Dreamhosters.com sub-domain)

4.) On Step 3 you will need to to remove the Applications you do not want to use by clicking on the "red "X", Remember that you can always add any application you do not install when you sign up so no need to install anything you don't want at during sign up.

5. We provide you an opportunity to upgrade this free account into a fully hosted plan with a big discount. Upgrading into a fully hosted plan will give you additional benefits like FTP/Shell access to the website files, Free Domain Registration, Tech support. Find out more info here. If you would like to do this just check the box in step 4 and you will be upgraded to a fully hosted plan once you finish the sign up process.

6.) Next you just need to fill in your personal information, username, password, and agree to our terms of service and enter the Captha information to verify your a human. Once you are done you just need to click on the Blue button to finish the sign up process. If you choose to buy a Domain name or upgrade to a fully hosted plan then you will be taken to an additional page to enter your payment information.
