How can I change the email address where my DreamBook signed book alerts are sent?
Go to https://panel.dreamhost.com/id/?tab=contact and scroll to the bottom of the page where it says "Email Contact Preferences." Here you can check off where you want your "Signed Book" alerts to go (under the "DreamBook-related Messages" header). If the email address you need to add isn't already listed (next to "Emails go to:"), then just add it into one of the available text areas to the right. Click "Submit New Email Contact Prefs") at the bottom of the box, and now your email will be forwarded to all the email addresses you checked off.
To turn on or off whether you get email addresses, go to the "Options" section of http://manage.dreambook.com/.
I have an extra Dreambook, how do I delete it?
You can delete a Dreambook by going into Management, picking the Dreambook in question, and then clicking Remove from the bottom of the list of possible actions.
How do I delete my whole user account?
It's easy! Just go to the DreamBook Management area and choose the book you want to turn banner ads off on. Then, click the link near the bottom that says "Turn Banner Ads Off"!
It takes a little while to process, so just hang in there! After its done, view your book again, MAKING SURE TO RELOAD, and the ads will be gone!
Remember, you can only do this if you host a domain with DreamHost!
So you have your dreambook linked to one page, but have set up a page somewhere else and want to take your guestbook, and all its entries, with you. It's easy!
If you are moving the same page to another host (for example from your old host to DreamHost!), you don't have to do anything. Since the guestbook is located on the DreamBook servers, the link from your page to your guestbook will stay the same no matter what.
If you are creating a different page, and want to link it to your guestbook, simply copy (CTL+C) the code from your old page, and paste (CTL+V) it into your new page. You can also copy the linking code from this article, then customize it per the directions.
To make sure your visitors can return to your site after signing your dreambook, do the following:
- Go to the Dreambook Management Site,
- Click on your book,
- Click on the Options link,
- Then change the Site URL in the box at the top of the page from the old URL to the new one.
That's it! You're done!
How can I change my DreamBook username?
We're sorry, you can't.
You can of course create as many different DreamBooks as you'd like under your one username, all with different book names. You can also just create another account altogether with the new username. You can't, however, close your old one.
I forgot my password or my username to my guestbook!
If you know your username, but have forgotten your password, attempt to log in at manage.dreambook.com without a password. When you do that, you will be given an option to have your password emailed to you.
If you do not know your username, look in the URL (web address) for your Dreambook. Your username is the directory directly after the http://books.dreambook.com/ part.
For instance: if the url for your Dreambook is
then your username is blahblah.
Once you have your username, you can try to login and have your password emailed to you.
If you've changed your email address AND forgot your password, don't worry! When you try and log in at http://manage.dreambook.com/ with no password you'll be able to change your email address as long as you KNOW the old one, even if it doesn't work anymore!
How can I close my DreamBook account?
I'd like to delete my DreamBook account but I can't see where it can be removed. Help me!
That's because there is no way to close your account! It doesn't matter though, because we never email you, and it costs nothing. Just stop linking to your guestbook and it'll be out of your life forever.
We never send any email to our members or give out personal data, so there is no harm in keeping an inactive account.
We appreciate you wanting to keep our database neat and tidy, but really we don't mind keeping your data forever, languishing unused.
You can't delete your DreamBook account, but you can delete individual DreamBooks. See the Related Links for details.
Simply open your web page in a text editor, then add the following code:
- To make a link that will take visitors to the sign form: <a href="http://books.dreambook.com/username/book.sign.html"> Click here to sign my Dreambook </a>
- To make a link where visitors can click to read your guestbook: <a href="http://books.dreambook.com/username/book.html"> Click here to read my DreamBook </a>
book - This is the name you gave to your book when you created it.
You are also encouraged to use the small Dreambook logo to link to the Dreambook site with the following HTML:
<a href="http://www.dreambook.com/" target="_top"> <img src="http://buttons.dreambook.com/dbnow.gif" width="88" height="31" border="0" alt="Dreambook"></a>
