DomainKeys Identified Mail
From DreamHost
DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) is an E-Mail authentication method. Dreamhost supports it by default in every domain’s DNS records, but doesn’t sign outgoing messages, so it doesn’t do much good yet. Patience, grasshopper.

Seeing your DKIM DNS record
In the following, use your domain name in place of example.com.
- Visit the Manage Domains page in Control Panel, and click the "[DNS]" link for the domain you wish to edit. You'll be taken to the domain management page.
- Look in the left column, under "Record (example.com zone)", for lines marked "_domainkey".
- See records, of type TXT, like the following:
- o=~; r=postmaster@example.com
- k=rsa; t=y; p=GIMfMA0GCSqGSIb3DQEBAQUAA4GNADCBiQKBgQCfVzZoj6YZph/1oTroL1NhkfHmMgZyuUyNBRVVPkXzQaeZMHMC+S+KxVP7TUPPQYZ6CKSELzqDwjv9jz10u3zx1eB+Bmqc8cYA2oxZdda3EaJ/LEYtIA1auXxHzY2qaElIToSLrV97il19F3m4p6V5M6Yho9zxfIfrlTHSECLsrQIDAQBA
Signing Your Messages With DKIM
You could sign your own messages if you knew the DKIM private key for your domain. It's not known how to get this information from Dreamhost's system. Only the public key is in your DKIM record. And as of February 3, 2009, Dreamhost doesn't appear to be signing outgoing messages. DKIM won't be of much use until they start doing so.
History
Until October 2008, Dreamhost didn’t support DKIM at all! However, in their October 2008 newsletter, they announced that they would be creating DKIM records in everyone’s DNS record. They also forecast signing outgoing emails "in the near future". As of December, 2008, some emails sent through Dreamhost SMTP servers had no DKIM signatures. The newsletter said this DKIM implementation did not affect incoming mail.
