Category talk:Web
From DreamHost
Does this category have a point? It seems like there should be hardly anything (with the exception of the Pink Floyd article) that wouldn't fall under this category. Ryan 12:54, 23 Apr 2005 (PDT)
If it were being used for appropriate articles, it would. It looks like people are just putting everything vaguely related in here currently. Good candidates for removal are DNS, FTP, chat rooms, and whois, at the very least. A case could be made for removing things that, while web-related, would be more appropriate in more specific categories (eg, Perl modules, installing PHP 5). -- kchrist 17:39, 24 Apr 2005 (PDT)
I'm divided on this. I can see that web-related stuff needs some sort of category, if only to separate it from email-related stuff. However, it does seem that the category has been rather generalized. We should leave it for now, and see how it develops -- Scjessey 18:20, 24 Apr 2005 (PDT)
I could see this category, if it was named Web Development. Then create new categories for email, Dream Host, Running your web site - which would include the software that can be installed on your web site. Silkrooster 17:56, 28 Apr 2005 (PDT)

- Is there any thing that can be done to fix it? or do i need to find .htaccess info elsewhere? --Fimion - Fabulous Geek 10:51, 15 Jun 2006 (PDT)
A search of the wiki for samba has a reference to an old newslettery. How about something saying how to do this? I know from windows, and I know for OS X - but mount -t smbfs/smbmount is failing for me for linux and I would like to know how to configure this - but there is no information. Since this page explains FTP - maybe a section on samba could be written.
