Carbon Offset

Some users may be curious about the carbon usage associated with their DreamHost account. The question about exactly how much electrical usage is tied to each user account is a pretty tough one to be answered. The best information that can be provided is a rough estimate. Based on the total power usage of all of DreamHost's servers, divided by the total number of customers results in the electrical usage of 1.5KW per month, per user.

This is by no means an exact figure, as inactive accounts may be calculated into the figure and customer dedicated servers would have a much higher output than a user on a shared hosting server. It's something to work off of, however!
