The BlackBerry is a wireless handheld device which supports push e-mail, mobile telephone, text messaging, internet faxing, web browsing and other wireless information services.
If you want IMAP with mailbox syncing, you may consider using Google Apps. Google Apps offers Gmail-style mail hosting for user@yourdomain type of emails. You will still have your site hosted with DreamHost, but you'll use Google Apps' free service to take care of your emails. Then, use Google's mail for mobile application on your phone to use IMAP.

How it works on DreamHost using Blackberry Internet Service (BIS).
Emails deleted on BlackBerry are deleted permanently in IMAP and do not appear in deleted items.
Emails sent on the BlackBerry are not put into the Sent Items on IMAP.
How to get around it
Go into the BIS settings through the carrier. There is an option to BCC an email address on every sent item.
- BCC the email account and put filters on the BB to exclude these emails and put a filter in the DreamHost webmail settings to move all emails from oneself into the sent items folder
- Set up a completely different 'inbox' to BCC. Then put a rule on the desktop to move all emails received to that inbox into the original accounts 'sent items'
